Karaka delivered a standout result with the outstanding King Of Swing x Gladamare colt, Lot 102, selling for $140,000. As the only King Of Swing yearling offered in the sale, he carried plenty of interest and he certainly did not disappoint.

Crowned International Animal Health Best Presented at the NZB Standardbred Karaka Parade, he had already made a strong impression before entering the ring. His quality, athleticism and presence were clear, and the market responded accordingly with a strong six figure result.

For breeders, this result means a great deal, providing not only vendors but also purchasers real confidence in King Of Swings progeny moving forward.

Breckon Farms bred King Of Swing and have backed him from day one. They have supported him with strong books of quality mares each season and believed in him as a stallion from the beginning. They have also done an outstanding job preparing this colt for the sales ring, presenting him in superb fashion and giving him every chance to shine.

There is also a full circle moment here that makes this result even more special. The purchaser was Lincoln Farms. A decade ago, Lincoln Farms were the purchasers of King Of Swing himself as a yearling in 2016, securing him for $80,000. To see them return and invest $140,000 into one of his sons speaks strongly about their confidence in King Of Swing’s bloodline and their belief in his future as a young sire.

Congratulations to Lincoln Farms on their purchase and we wish them every success with this very promising colt.

Even more exciting is the fact that this colt is sustained for the Cobbitty Equine Ultra Air Classic, giving his new connections a genuine opportunity ahead. Series like this create meaningful targets for young horses and we look forward to seeing him line up for the Classic in 2027.

It is also important to acknowledge Harness Racing New Zealand for the introduction of the Next Gen initiative. With King Of Swing eligible, he has received a significant lift in support in numbers this past season, as well as now being eligible for the Harness 5000. Programs like this encourage breeders to get behind emerging stallions, and the increase in support shows there is growing belief in what he can produce.

We are incredibly grateful to every breeder who has backed King Of Swing so far. Choosing a young stallion takes confidence and that support does not go unnoticed. We are very proud of the direction he is heading and there is a real sense that bigger things are still to come.

This has been a very positive start to 2026. King Of Swing has now completed his fourth season at stud, once again serving a full book of mares. The level of support for an unproven sire has been phenomenal and we are genuinely thankful to everyone who has backed him so strongly.

If you are looking to secure a King Of Swing yearling, there are plenty of opportunities ahead:
