Participants are reminded that a 3YO can only obtain half points if the 3YO:
- Competes in a race for 3YO’s only or a race of combined ages for 2 & 3YO’s
- Is balloted from the 3YO race and gains a start in any other race on the same program
- The 3YO race is cancelled and the 3YO gains a start in any other race on the same program.
Should a trainer nominate their 3YO for another race in preference over the 3YO or not nominate for the 3YO race at all the horse will be exposed to FULL Rating point penalties.
Trainers have the choice of where to place their horse but please make yourselves aware that 3YO’s will only gain half points if starting in a juvenile race or failing to gain a start in a juvenile race but starting in another race on the same program.
If trainers nominate their 3YO for a race other than a juvenile race Racing Queensland officials will respect the trainer’s nomination as by choice the trainer has nominated with the knowledge that the 3YO is exposed to a full NR Penalty.
The same situation will apply to 2YO's once 2YO racing this season commences.
