The catalogue for the 2026 Australian Pacing Gold Melbourne Yearling Sale, to be held on Sunday, February 15 at Oaklands Junction, has been further boosted with the 12-strong contingent of trotting bred youngsters going up for auction.

The draft is spearheaded by three colts and two fillies from the first crop of the 2021 USA 2YO Trotting Colt of the Year King Of The North, a millionaire son of one of North America’s leading trotting sires, Walner.

King Of The North was one of the success stories at this year’s American sales with 17 head averaging out at $90,000 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale and 39 head averaging $62,000 at the Black Book Sale at Harrisburg.

A colt Kountry Win fetched the second top price during the second session of the Lexington sale at a staggering $425,000.

King Of The North’s Melbourne contingent comprises a half-brother to the Victoria Derby and Oaks winner Pink Galahs (Lot 148), a colt out of a Majestic Son half-sister to the five-time Group 1 winner Aldebaran Zeus (Lot 117), a colt out of the Melton winner Very Belle (Lot 158) and fillies from the 2020 2YO Trotting Filly of the Year Banglez (Lot 165) and Australasia’s first sub 1:55 female trotter My Valerie NZ (Lot 123).

Majestic Son, the leading Australian trotting sire for the last 10 seasons, and E L Titan, ranked second on this year’s North American two-year-old sires’ list based on average earnings per foal, are both dually represented.

The sire of the Dominion Handicap winner Gus, Majestic Son has a pair of royally bred colts in Lot 131, whose dam is a Ready Cash half-sister to the dam of the NZ Young Guns victor We Can Have It All, and Lot 136, a half-brother to the smart trotter Scootin Around and a member of the same family as Maori Time, Maori Law and so on.

E L Titan, a $700,000 winning son of Muscle Hill from the maternal family of Andover Hall and Angus Hall, is represented by a half-brother to the Vicbred champions Kyvalley Clichy and Needabacardi as Lot 118 and a half-sister to three Group winners in Pretty Majestic, Kinvara Sue and Rave On Hall (Lot 134).

The progenitor of the reigning Inter Dominion champion Arcee Phoenix, Trixton has a single entry at the sale in Lot 112, a filly closely related to the Group 3 winner Down Under Earl and from the family of Maori’s Idol, Noopy Kiosk and Keayang Zahara.

Another son of Muscle Hill, What The Hill, a leading sire of trotters in both NZ and Australia, is represented by a colt out of a sister to the $90,000 earners Allwood’s Sunbeam and Outpunch Enchanter (Lot 111).

Completing the square-gaiting consignment is Lot 137, a colt by the leading percentage sire Used To Me from the cups winning mare Prettylilangeleyes, a half-sister to five winners including the Group 3 victor Tendaho.

The trotting yearlings along with non-sale entries are all eligible for the Australian Pacing Gold Trotters Graduate Series with a $40,000 Final for two-year-olds in 2027 and a $30,000 Final for three-year-olds in 2028.
