Anyone who’s a fan of Artsplace bloodlines should check out Ascot Park Standardbreds Captain Crunch filly in the 2025 APG Ipswich Yearling Sale on February 9.
Artsplace is the sire of champion stallion Art Major but is even more famous as a broodmare sire.
His daughters have produced triple Miracle Mile winner King Of Swing ($3M), superstar Captaintreacherous ($3M), boom sire Always B Miki ($2.8M) and the fastest pacer in the world Bulldog Hanover ($2.7M) to name a few.
This filly (Lot 116) has four lines of Artsplace in her pedigree – two from Captain Crunch and two from her dam Lindsey, who is by Sweet Lou.
To make it even more intense, Captain Crunch is out of a three-quarter sister to Sweet Lou.
This gives her a line of Falcon Seelster from the sire and dam. She also has a line of Direct Scooter at the top and bottom of her pedigree through Mach Three and Christian Cullen.
The youngster is from an outstanding filly family.
Her grandam Loving You (1.55.7, $97K) was placed in the WA Oaks and is a half sister to tough mare Arousing (1.56.6, $119K), who produced mare’s Group 2 placegetter Run For Mercy (1.57.1, $132K).
Third dam Roustabout (1.59.5, $33K) won four races from just 12 starts, including the Group 3 WA Empress Stakes. She is a half sister to outstanding mare Kickupyourheels (1.50, $298K), who won 21 races in the US.
This is also the family of 2YO and 3YO Qbred fillies final winner Rylee Rayne Bow (1.53.1, $247K).
She was bred by Tamworth couple Danny and Amy Evans, who sent some of their broodmares to one of Queensland’s premier harness racing nurseries Burwood Stud.
Danny’s father, former trainer Col Evans, had a short stint as a trainer-reinsman in Queensland and Danny is keen to continue the connection.
Ascot Park’s other filly in the Ipswich sale (Lot 118) is by American Ideal the Evans’ good race mare Major Bonus (1.56.1, $83K), who won 12 races – five as a three-year-old.
Major Bonus has already left nine-time winner Magic Joe (1.57.5, $90K) and the ill-fated 2YO Lieutenant Lou (2.00.1) who died after just five 2YO starts.
This filly’s grandam Pretty Inpink (1.56.8, $103K) won 15 races and was placed in the Australian Oaks.
She has left 11 winners, including Hit And Giggle (1.49.4, $218K) and Psychadelic (1.53.3, $162K).
