New Inquiries

  • 25 January 2024– Mr Peter Tanti – HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from the Australian Government National Measurement Institute (NMI) that Cobalt above the threshold of 100 micrograms per litre in urine was detected in the urine sample taken from BLUE SUEDE ROCKA following its win in race 4, the HALLOWEEN @ CLUB PACWAY OCTOBER 27 & 28 PACE (1720 metres) conducted at Penrith on Thursday 12 October 2023.

The reserve portion and control solution have been confirmed by the ChemCentre in Western Australia.

HRNSW Stewards have suspended Mr Tanti’s Trainer and Driver’s licence pursuant to Australian Harness Racing Rule (AHRR) 183.

Mr Tanti has been advised of his right to appeal the decision of HRNSW Stewards.

Inquiries Conducted

  • 10 January 2023– Mr Laurie Callick – HRNSW Stewards conducted an Inquiry in relation to a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) that Arsenic above the allowable threshold had been detected in the post-race urine sample taken from the horse SPRINGFIELD SHADOW following its win in race 6, the F TROOP RACING PACE (2210 metres) conducted at Broken Hill on Friday 13 March 2020.

The ‘B’ sample was confirmed by the ChemCentre in Western Australia.

Mr Callick pleaded guilty to a charge issued pursuant to Australian Harness Racing Rule (AHRR) 190 (1), (2) & (4). In respect of that charge Mr Callick was convicted, however, Stewards did not impose a penalty on Mr Callick as they were satisfied to the requisite standard that the detection of Arsenic was consistent with the chronic ingestion of treated wood by SPRINGFIELD SHADOW.

Acting under the provisions of AHRR 195, SPRINGFIELD SHADOW was disqualified from the abovementioned race.

Mr Callick was advised of his right to appeal the decision
