SA TROTS - Jamaican Rock's Golden opportunity

A CASE of 'might as well give it a crack' has paid dividends for Jamaican Rock's connections.

Following the freshman's victory at Globe Derby during the weekend trainer Ryan Hryhorec revealed Jamaican Rock "was rushed" for the feature.

Given the Sales Final is South Australia's richest race at $50,000, Hryhorec decided the one-off opportunity was too good to bypass.

"He's done a great job to win both his starts, especially considering he isn't really ready," Hryhorec said.

"You only get one go at a race like this, and given it is the most prizemoney on offer for any race over here, you can't miss it.

"He was rushed for this race, as was Nicely Spoken, so it's been a great result.

"They'll both go to the paddock for as long as possible now.

"I'll check the Southern Cross dates and work backwards to figure out how long they can have off."

With Hryhorec in the cart, Jamaican Rock began quickly to lead from barrier three as his stablemate worked in the breeze.

Proving too slick along the home straight, the son of A Rocknroll Dance was untouched to score by five-and-a-half metres from Lethal Louie, which trailed the pacemaker throughout.

Nicely Spoken battled on solidly to be four metres away third in 2:00.8 over 1800 metres.

"You've only had to watch his two races to see how green he is," Hryhorec said. "Everything he has done this preparation has been on raw ability and I can't see any reason why he won't improve with experience.

"This mini campaign, a good break and another build up should do him the world of good."
