Licensees and nominated officials will enjoy greater peace of mind through new insurance measures implemented by Harness Racing New South Wales.

Following a restructure of the existing insurance scheme to better suit the industry’s needs, HRNSW has doubled the capital benefit payment available under the Personal Accident Policy.

It has been raised from $250,000 to $500,000 for licensees and nominated officials.

The boosted policy continues to provide the highest level of cover to Licensees anywhere in Australia.

Together with Workers Compensation insurance, which covers accidents in races, New South Wales harness racing participants have the upper most cover across Australia.

HRNSW Chief Executive John Dumesny said the change reflected its commitment to best protect Licensees and provide financial assurances through unfortunate times of need.

“Our Chief Operating Officer Peter Carney has been working with HRNSW’s broker, Gallagher, to restructure the program over a number of years. The benefits of working with them to reorganise the structure and underwriting of the program has now paid dividends,” Mr Dumesny said.

“Having reviewed HRNSW’s claims history, Gallagher was able to secure an underwriter willing to provide the significant additional benefits.”

“We are truly appreciative of Gallagher’s assistance for our Licensees and Officials, who can be assured that HRNSW is providing them with the best possible cover and benefits in the unfortunate case of an accident.”
