The James Rattray-prepared Ignatius will race at Goulburn today.

After facing defeat to his stablemate in track record time last start, Ignatius will be out to go one better at Goulburn today.

The Group 1 winning pacer finished second to Star Major at Riverina Paceway last week when the winner smashed the track record when rating 1:50.3.

Trainer James Rattray prepares both of those pacers and he was optimistic about Ignatius’ effort.

“He was caught in a bit of trouble but ran really well, I was happy with him,” said Rattray following the runner up effort.

Ignatius has had 13 starts this season for five wins and four placings.

His last victory was at Goulburn two starts ago on August 23 where he led throughout in a rate of 1:54.4.

Rattray is considering an interstate raid with his two pacers, pending on the travel restrictions in place.
