Ryley Major capped off a massive 2019-2020 season by capturing the Tasmanian Horse of the year title.

The announcement was made in front of a packed house at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Launceston on Saturday night.

The Rohan Hillier trained pacer raced 22 times during the 2019-2020 season for 14 wins and seven placings.

His feature wins included the Group 2 Tasmania Cup, the Group 3 Tassie Golden Apple and the Listed Hobart Pacing Cup.

Phillip Young was rewarded for his significant contribution to the states harness racing industry over many decades when awarded with the state's highest honour, the Edgar Tatlow Medal.
