Ballarat– 23 January 2021

RACE 4 –MERCURY80 (3RD HEAT) (1200MS

Michael Gadsden, trainer of Ultimate Won, which was found to be lame after the event and transported to Ballarat Veterinary Equine Practice that evening advised that subsequently x-rays performed on Ultimate Won the following day failed to reveal any significant finding however the gelding remained lame in the near foreleg and would undergo further observations at the (BVEP) and undertook to report those findings to Stewards. Mr Gadsden has advised after further x-rays conducted by the BVEP have revealed the gelding to have a fracture in the near fore cannon bone. Mr Gadsden added the gelding will now undergo stable rest followed by a spell with the prognosis very favourable for a return to racing.

Anthony Butt, Co trainer of Platinum Stride NZ advised subsequent to the event the gelding failed to recover as expected and will now be given a short spell before recommencing its preparation.
