The Redcliffe Harness Racing Club has announced next month’s coveted Yearling Sale will not proceed as scheduled.

Slated to be held on Sunday, April 5, the second and final standardbred sale in Queensland for the year had 66 lots catalogued which represented 26 different sires.

Burwood Stud, who have bred, prepared or stood the sire of the seven of the 11 Garrard’s Redcliffe Sales Classic 2YO winners, had the biggest draft with 13.

Earlier today, however, RHRC issued a statement through their social media channels which stated:

“Good Morning, after serious consideration the Redcliffe Yearling Sale on April 5 is on hold at this moment,” the statement read.

“Due to COVID-19 changing each day, hope everyone understands. (There) will be more information in the next couple of days as to which way the Sale is held.”

As per the statement, a decision on whether the Sale will be postponed, abandoned or staged in another format is yet to be reached.
